XY-ORDINARY

The project XY-ORDINARY, a collection of vases inspired by a series of genetic mutations, illustrates the contradicting phenomenon of error and the connected ‘Einzigartigkeit’ through abnormality.
On one hand breaking the narrative of perfection and on the other hand generating unique output, error can be seen as undesirable in one context but highly valorised in another. The genetic defects Albinism, Vitiligo, Marfan and Form Mutation are translated in an experimental design process, in which the various principles of these abnormalities are interpreted and represented in form of materiality, shape and fabrication method.
